The book presents a multifaceted criticism of the Sufi movement through the prisms of Quranic writings and Prophetic traditions, the two principal sources of knowledge about Islam.
While studying the developmental process of these doctrines and the offshoots of Sufism, the historical order has also been taken into perspective to examine the extraneous influences - Islamic as well as non-Islamic - which were the motivating factors during that particular time and tide of events.
